Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO), which rose 5.99% or 0.5100 points to trade at 9.0300 at the close. CNH Industrial NV (MI:CNHI) added 2.96% or 0.170 points to end at 5.905 and Mediaset (MI:MS) was up 2.08% or 0.064 points to 3.148 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Luxottica Group (MI:LUX), which lost 5.73% or 3.30 points to trade at 54.25 in late trade. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) declined 3.85% or 0.0255 points to end at 0.6375 and Unipol (MI:UNPI) shed 3.67% or 0.138 points to 3.622.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 234 to 188 and 10 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 6.07% or 2.04 to $31.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 4.97% or 1.79 to hit $34.20 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.95% or 10.60 to trade at $1127.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.0898, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.7578.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 99.09.
