Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chipmos (TW:8150), which rose 9.97% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.40 at the close. Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) added 9.84% or 6.10 points to end at 68.10 and Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028) was up 9.83% or 0.17 points to 1.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which lost 9.90% or 0.41 points to trade at 3.73 in late trade. Accton (TW:2345) declined 4.08% or 0.85 points to end at 20.00 and In-Win Dev (TW:6117) shed 3.57% or 0.55 points to 14.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 585 to 252 and 5 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.07% or 0.03 to $46.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $48.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.10% or 1.10 to trade at $1137.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.96% to 32.403, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1951.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.91.
