Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Trading, Services and Plantations sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.35% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were PC Pharma PLC (CM:PCPH), which rose 12.50% or 0.10 points to trade at 0.90 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 10.00% or 0.10 points to end at 1.00 and Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) was up 9.94% or 3.40 points to 37.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which lost 23.21% or 528.00 points to trade at 1747.00 in late trade. Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM) declined 9.09% or 0.20 points to end at 2.00 and Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA) shed 8.79% or 2.90 points to 30.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 122 to 94 and 24 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.15% or 0.99 to $45.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.71% or 0.81 to hit $48.45 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.20 to trade at $1119.20 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.04% to 210.150, while USD/LKR fell 0.04% to 137.610.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.16.
