Investing.com – Electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has confirmed that customers can now use Bitcoin as a payment method for its vehicles.

The company first suggested this would be the case in recent filings with the SEC when they also said they had bought $1.5bln worth of Bitcoin to diversify their reserves.

“We expect to begin accepting bitcoin as a form of payment for our products in the near future, subject to applicable laws and initially on a limited basis, which we may or may not liquidate upon receipt,” the car maker said in a statement in February.

Musk Tweets

In a series of tweets this morning, Elon Musk confirmed the news.

“You can now buy a Tesla with Bitcoin,” Musk tweeted.

The service is currently only available for customers in the US but Musk added that ‘Pay by Bitcoin’ capability outside the US will be available later this year.

Musk also added that the Bitcoin paid to Tesla will be retained as Bitcoin and not converted to fiat currency.

BTC only moves on hype and influencer news essentially acting like TSLA stock, no fundamentals backing the price increase. Elon will try pump the price to take profit. To think that buying a Tesla is going to make an fundamental impact on BTC is ludicrous. Crypto and Blockchain are amazing technologies but until there are really fundamentals backing them, Crypto is just a speculation tool. If BTC sinks again you will see all the long holders and funds talk ****about it again. Best price for BTC is between $6k to $10k. When it maintains these levels it will be a viable digital currency.
If Musk likes DOGE that much why not let use DOGE as well for purchasing tesla equipment....
Could this be for self gain?  Or the start of the future?
How to create a bigger bubble? Ans: By combining with another bubble.
Whatever..u already lose oppurtunity to buy at low price?
waiting it turn zero in a blink when gov impose law to govern this and you will then know what a bubble is physically loo

The price of the Tesla decreases from the moment you purchase it too. Overpriced rubbish.
if those who bought bitcoin at a very very early stage ... they can easily buy numerous Teslas.. they can afford it.. it's nothing for them
The SEC will be on to him immediately as part of a money laundering probe.
