LONDON (Reuters) - Britain on Sunday reported 39,962 new cases of COVID-19 and 72 new deaths within 28 days of a positive test.

While figures published by the government during weekends tend to show a reduction in both cases and deaths compared with weekdays, it was the deadliest Sunday since early March.

We test more people than any other country (pro rata) so we detect more infections (pro rata) than countries with similar infection rates. Its a very simple concept but its beyond the UK's media's mental grasp.
Positive test does not mean anything. you are sick when you have symptoms, thats it.
the numbers are always several days behind the actuals and the trend up is concerning. the lockdown when it comes will be glharsher than it could be if acted sooner. or is that the plan?
Look at the deaths, not the positive tests. The UK tests the most in the world, 2 X the US.
The UK is living with the virus and is perfectly willing to except 100k positive cases per day; tests for covid are the highest in the world 2X the US. Look at the death rates, not the infections !
Rubbish.
