LONDON (Reuters) - People in England will no longer be required to wear facemasks anywhere or work from home from next week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday, adding that scientists believed the Omicron coronavirus wave had peaked nationally.

Johnson also said that while people would still be required to self-isolate, he wanted to eventually remove the legal requirement to do so.

A distraction from his current predicament. A stupid decision to ‘drop’ mask requirements. He is not going ‘by the science’, he is in trouble, so is doing anything and everything to make the public look the other way. This will only relax everybody into thinking its all over with, done and dusted, nothing to worry about. Just a cheeky wee 150’000+ dead in the UK. With no end in sight if we all jump back into the pool, or hit the club, or cram ourselves into Monday subway trains. “Ta da! Youre welcome England. Now lets all get back to the getting Brexit done.”A pandemic that is far from over. It only goes away when the entire planet gets vaccinated. When the virus has nowhere to go. When the cases/death numbers drop significantly. The longer that takes, the more chances for CoVid19 to mutate again and again and again. It doesnt go away just because a politician wishes it so. Boys and girls, please keep washing your hands, keep your masks on. Stay safe.
good
Pm Boris another mistake dropping masks, it will make those wearing them feel uncomfortable and he does not know his head from his tow, so why take notice, scientists said covid  is here to stay and also not to be treated like a common cold, so his campaign for vaccines not gone to well as it, Macron stirred it up when he said at the beginning Astra's was not good, best anti vaccine supporter now look where they are. When NHS overwhelmed Boris will have no backup plan, just a err err interesting every time I see him with rolled up sleeves
well done BJ
he I doing what he said he would do, let the science guide the decisions. the science (specifically the ONS survey data on covid) I showing a sharp decline in the number of infections, hence alow people to live their lives more freely. No one is sopping you wearing a mask if you want to feel safer.Whilst the astra zenica vaccine is slight less effective than Pfizer, its about 10% of the price, so from a cost benefit point of view is better.
Good 😊
