(Reuters) -Germany will attempt to ban British travellers from the European Union regardless of whether or not they have had a COVID-19 vaccine, The Times reported https:// on Monday.

The German chancellor wants to designate Britain as a "country of concern" because the Delta variant of the coronavirus is so widespread, the newspaper said.

The plans will be discussed by senior European and national officials on the EU's integrated political crisis response committee and will be resisted by Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Malta and Portugal, the newspaper added.

Sensible move by the Germany as new delta cases rise 60 % a week ...the countries resisting are desperate for the tourist at any cost..
Simply another attempt to politicise Covid. According to the German Health minister on 25/6 15% of current infections in Germany are the delta variant, and it is expected to be the dominant strain by summer. In his view the reason for this has nothing to do with Brits travelling to Europe but Germany's slow vaccination rollout. Just another example of a Northern EU trying to deflect blame for their incompetence.
