Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Investment Trust, Motors and Diversified Holdings sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Arpico Finance Company PLC (CM:ARPI), which rose 19.88% or 34.00 points to trade at 205.00 at the close. Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI) added 16.84% or 24.50 points to end at 170.00 and Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) was up 11.34% or 5.40 points to 53.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which lost 12.71% or 211.20 points to trade at 1450.00 in late trade. Guardian Capital Partners PLC (CM:WAPO) declined 10.36% or 3.70 points to end at 32.00 and PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH) shed 7.14% or 0.100 points to 1.300.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 75 to 69 and 59 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.39% or 0.74 to $52.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 1.12% or 0.62 to hit $54.87 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.74% or 8.95 to trade at $1213.85 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.11% to 185.240, while USD/LKR fell 0.92% to 148.715.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.49% at 100.28.
