Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 3.18%, while the MDAX index climbed 2.70%, and the TecDAX index gained 3.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which rose 6.18% or 3.680 points to trade at 63.260 at the close. Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) added 4.45% or 5.200 points to end at 122.100 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was up 4.20% or 0.790 points to 19.605 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which added 0.69% or 0.640 points to trade at 93.500 in late trade. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) added 0.86% or 0.285 points to end at 33.325 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) gained 1.18% or 1.900 points to 163.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which rose 5.76% to 71.080, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was up 5.26% to settle at 27.910 and Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which gained 5.11% to close at 58.660.
The worst performers were Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was down 0.25% to 6.752 in late trade, Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which gained 0.46% to settle at 121.100 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was up 0.84% to 8.052 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 9.29% to 9.357, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was up 6.42% to settle at 8.637 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which gained 6.21% to close at 5.374.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was up 0.96% to 30.975 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which gained 1.51% to settle at 41.920 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 1.58% to 31.490 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 678 to 68 and 38 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 27.93 a new 3-year high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.17% or 1.90 to $1122.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 8.58% or 3.31 to hit $41.91 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 7.68% or 3.31 to trade at $46.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.84% to 1.1220, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.7284.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.67% at 95.94.
