Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 19.50 points to trade at 214.50 at the close. Formosa Sumco (TW:3532) added 9.92% or 8.90 points to end at 98.60 and Gem Terminal (TW:2460) was up 9.72% or 1.05 points to 11.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chung Fu (TW:1435), which lost 5.49% or 0.340 points to trade at 5.850 in late trade. Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) declined 5.20% or 0.260 points to end at 4.740 and Evertop Wire (TW:1616) shed 4.81% or 0.360 points to 7.130.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 488 to 288 and 100 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.08% or 0.04 to $53.07 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $55.76 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1233.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 30.758, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2242.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 100.98.
