Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Services, Consumer Staples and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Transport, Telecoms and Insurance sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.33%, while the ADX General index added 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 2.31% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.770 at the close. Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) added 2.14% or 0.03 points to end at 1.43 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 2.14% or 0.040 points to 1.910 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 3.52% or 0.090 points to trade at 2.470 in late trade. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 2.52% or 0.120 points to end at 4.650 and Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) shed 2.06% or 0.021 points to 0.999.

The top performers on the ADX General were Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which rose 15.00% to 5.98, Umm Al Qaiwain Cement Industries Co PSC (AD:QIC) which was up 15.00% to settle at 1.1500 and Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which gained 14.81% to close at 3.100.

The worst performers were Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which was down 3.77% to 1.020 in late trade, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which lost 3.66% to settle at 0.7900 and Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which was down 3.57% to 0.540 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 11 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 rose and 9 declined, while 12 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.44% or 0.77 to $54.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.41% or 0.79 to hit $56.63 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.45% or 5.55 to trade at $1238.85 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6727, while EUR/AED fell 0.11% to 3.8734.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 101.39.
