Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services, Basic Materials and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep (AMS:ING), which rose 1.23% or 0.180 points to trade at 14.810 at the close. Randstad (AMS:RAND) added 1.00% or 0.58 points to end at 58.41 and NN Group (AMS:NN) was up 0.86% or 0.21 points to 25.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which lost 3.17% or 0.29 points to trade at 8.73 in late trade. Wolters Kluwer (AMS:WLSNc) declined 2.86% or 0.79 points to end at 26.64 and Gemalto (AMS:GTO) shed 2.60% or 2.13 points to 79.88.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 140 to 78 and 5 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 4.48% to 27.59 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.10% or 0.64 to $58.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.94% or 1.21 to hit $63.22 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.36% or 4.30 to trade at $1174.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1147, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.7093.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 95.65.
