Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kingcan (TW:8411), which rose 9.92% or 3.10 points to trade at 34.35 at the close. Avermedia Tech (TW:2417) added 9.57% or 0.93 points to end at 10.65 and Harvatek (TW:6168) was up 8.61% or 0.90 points to 11.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.18% or 0.09 points to trade at 0.89 in late trade. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 4.33% or 0.10 points to end at 2.21 and Epileds Tech (TW:4956) shed 3.63% or 0.80 points to 21.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 433 to 311 and 130 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.53% or 0.28 to $53.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.43% or 0.24 to hit $55.59 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.43% or 4.85 to trade at $1138.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.03% to 31.993, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2173.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 103.13.
