Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Resources and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.46% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index added 0.46%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.98% or 0.450 points to trade at 15.535 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 2.04% or 0.149 points to end at 7.451 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 1.29% or 0.530 points to 41.505 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 0.69% or 0.059 points to trade at 8.478 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 0.39% or 0.80 points to end at 205.50 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) shed 0.25% or 0.2200 points to 87.7600.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 3.78% to 62.820, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 2.90% to settle at 52.180 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which gained 2.70% to close at 62.340.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 3.04% to 4.53 in late trade, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which lost 1.30% to settle at 62.890 and Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 0.93% to 23.520 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which rose 9.27% to 56.230, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 2.33% to settle at 9.149 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which gained 1.87% to close at 96.380.
The worst performers were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 1.60% to 193.90 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which lost 1.09% to settle at 23.240 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.02% to 23.675 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 456 to 281 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.95% to 14.95.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.25 to $1245.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $50.43 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.32% or 0.17 to trade at $53.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.0695, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8536.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 100.20.
