Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 2.80% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.0000 points to trade at 15.0800 at the close. STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) fell 0.40% or 0.050 points to end at 12.480 and Moncler SpA (MI:MONC) was down 1.00% or 0.18 points to 17.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UBI Banca (MI:UBI), which lost 6.80% or 0.2420 points to trade at 3.3180 in late trade. Saipem (MI:SPMI) declined 6.72% or 0.0350 points to end at 0.4860 and Unipol Gruppo Finanziario Spa (MI:UNPI) shed 5.68% or 0.206 points to 3.422.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 273 to 64 and 12 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.77% or 0.41 to $52.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.47% or 0.26 to hit $55.44 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.58% or 6.95 to trade at $1198.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0690, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.8563.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 100.45.
