Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.24%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which rose 1.21% or 1.35 points to trade at 113.20 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 1.18% or 0.70 points to end at 59.99 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 1.04% or 1.15 points to 111.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP), which lost 1.05% or 0.64 points to trade at 60.46 in late trade. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 1.01% or 0.15 points to end at 14.65 and Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) shed 0.80% or 0.040 points to 4.955.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which rose 4.27% to 14.785, Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was up 2.52% to settle at 42.680 and Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which gained 2.24% to close at 22.390.
The worst performers were Euronext (PA:ENX) which was down 1.64% to 39.91 in late trade, Wendel (PA:MWDP) which lost 1.40% to settle at 115.95 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) which was down 1.05% to 60.46 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 311 to 270 and 123 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.28% to 14.66.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.08% or 1.05 to $1248.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.31% or 0.15 to hit $47.85 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.07 to trade at $50.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.0806, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8648.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 99.45.
