Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BRU:TNET), which rose 2.04% or 1.06 points to trade at 53.06 at the close. Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) added 1.06% or 0.580 points to end at 55.280 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BRU:COLR) was up 1.03% or 0.43 points to 42.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 4.83% or 0.42 points to trade at 8.37 in late trade. Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) declined 3.20% or 0.49 points to end at 14.97 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) shed 2.78% or 3.75 points to 131.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 93 to 65 and 3 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.83% or 20.40 to $1137.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.54% or 1.66 to hit $45.24 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.27% or 1.11 to trade at $47.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.1375, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.7300.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 94.83.
