Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 14.19% or 0.0210 points to trade at 0.1690 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) added 0.59% or 0.0170 points to end at 2.8860 and The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) was up 0.39% or 0.0100 points to 2.5900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 8.80% or 0.0019 points to trade at 0.0197 in late trade. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) declined 2.13% or 0.0680 points to end at 3.1320 and Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) shed 2.02% or 0.1140 points to 5.5180.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 32 to 13 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 4.35% or 2.11 to $46.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.12% or 1.93 to hit $44.87 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.66% or 8.85 to trade at $1344.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1109, while EUR/GBP rose 0.98% to 0.8433.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 96.18.
