Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 1.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPRu), which rose 0.31% or 0.0220 points to trade at 7.0080 at the close. J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) added 0.30% or 0.0350 points to end at 11.6550 and Banif SA (LS:BANIF) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.0000 points to 0.0020 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Impresa SGPS (LS:IMPA), which lost 3.75% or 0.0180 points to trade at 0.4620 in late trade. Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) declined 3.57% or 0.0420 points to end at 1.1330 and Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) shed 3.53% or 0.1730 points to 4.7260.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 44 to 11 and 1 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was down 1.75% or 0.65 to $36.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.16% or 0.42 to hit $35.64 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.40% or 14.90 to trade at $1079.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.46% to 1.0916, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.7335.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 98.46.
