Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Insurance and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.54%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.26%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which rose 2.40% or 0.560 points to trade at 23.885 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) added 1.22% or 0.140 points to end at 11.655 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 1.16% or 2.400 points to 210.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (XETRA:LING), which lost 2.44% or 4.300 points to trade at 171.600 in late trade. Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) declined 1.68% or 1.180 points to end at 68.850 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) shed 1.58% or 0.430 points to 26.750.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which rose 4.70% to 8.227, Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was up 3.45% to settle at 16.190 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which gained 2.63% to close at 33.325.
The worst performers were Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (XETRA:DEQGn) which was down 3.89% to 40.200 in late trade, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which lost 2.69% to settle at 55.370 and Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which was down 1.95% to 23.825 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 7.88% to 7.749, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which was up 2.50% to settle at 5.081 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which gained 1.61% to close at 30.255.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 6.82% to 4.100 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 4.22% to settle at 6.339 and Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which was down 3.45% to 64.830 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 386 to 352 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.40% to 25.41 a new 3-year high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.07% or 0.80 to $1202.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.96% or 1.19 to hit $59.63 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.44% or 1.56 to trade at $62.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.1335, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7143.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 94.44.
