Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which rose 7.07% or 1.790 points to trade at 27.100 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 4.16% or 4.69 points to end at 117.35 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was up 3.28% or 100.0 points to 3150.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which lost 4.68% or 17.55 points to trade at 357.45 in late trade. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 3.88% or 6400 points to end at 158600 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) shed 3.49% or 6.90 points to 191.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 134 to 94 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.16% to 28.970 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 2.59% or 32.85 to $1233.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.82% or 1.26 to hit $43.40 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.75% or 1.26 to trade at $44.58 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.59% to 65.8810, while EUR/RUB fell 0.05% to 71.400.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 99.06.
