Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Insurance and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.50% to hit a new 6-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 1.38%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which rose 5.70% or 8.700 points to trade at 161.300 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 4.50% or 0.475 points to end at 11.035 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 4.09% or 0.595 points to 15.135 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which added 0.41% or 0.600 points to trade at 148.500 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 1.33% or 0.205 points to end at 15.615 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) gained 1.36% or 0.127 points to 9.432.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 4.06% to 44.035, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 3.53% to settle at 44.850 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 3.32% to close at 29.915.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 1.49% to 105.800 in late trade, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which lost 0.32% to settle at 12.410 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 0.30% to 53.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 4.62% to 55.000, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was up 3.90% to settle at 20.780 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 3.08% to close at 3.784.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 1.27% to 25.58 in late trade, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which lost 1.04% to settle at 6.185 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 0.13% to 9.805 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 649 to 238 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.29% or 3.95 to $1345.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.16% or 0.07 to hit $43.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.05 to trade at $45.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.1111, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.8544.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 96.10.
