Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Construction and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 2.67%, while the MDAX index gained 3.31%, and the TecDAX index climbed 3.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 8.40% or 0.710 points to trade at 9.160 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 6.88% or 6.550 points to end at 101.750 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 5.22% or 3.290 points to 66.260 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 0.29% or 0.045 points to trade at 15.255 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 0.28% or 0.021 points to end at 7.516 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 0.11% or 0.015 points to 14.005.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which rose 7.09% to 58.020, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which was up 6.94% to settle at 21.045 and Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which gained 6.85% to close at 29.165.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was down 2.98% to 19.725 in late trade, Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (DE:CLSGn) which gained 0.24% to settle at 25.460 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (DE:KCOGn) which was up 0.29% to 8.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 9.84% to 43.470, Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which was up 8.09% to settle at 3.101 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which gained 8.01% to close at 3.238.
The worst performers were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was up 0.02% to 51.010 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 0.43% to settle at 32.390 and Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was up 1.07% to 30.105 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 514 to 45 and 6 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.71% to 29.04.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 2.47% or 30.60 to $1208.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.68% or 0.20 to hit $29.64 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.03 to trade at $33.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.04% to 1.1138, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.7727.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.92% at 96.87.
