Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 3.23% or 0.705 points to trade at 22.500 at the close. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) added 1.65% or 6.00 points to end at 370.00 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) was up 1.41% or 18.0 points to 1296.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX), which lost 4.02% or 4.75 points to trade at 113.51 in late trade. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) declined 3.48% or 0.0370 points to end at 1.0260 and GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) shed 2.97% or 0.0298 points to 0.9732.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 108 to 99 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.49% to 26.840.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.07% or 0.85 to $1227.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.39% or 0.21 to hit $53.12 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.05 to trade at $55.85 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.17% to 58.3228, while EUR/RUB fell 0.16% to 61.756.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 101.63.
