Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, General Retailers and Gas & Water sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.97%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 1.99% or 1.49 points to trade at 76.30 at the close. Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) added 1.63% or 0.92 points to end at 57.28 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 1.35% or 0.91 points to 68.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH), which lost 3.15% or 5.25 points to trade at 161.25 in late trade. Kering SA (PA:PRTP) declined 3.04% or 4.95 points to end at 157.85 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) shed 2.74% or 3.60 points to 127.75.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Montupet SA (PA:MNTP) which rose 3.06% to 61.630, Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) which was up 1.99% to settle at 76.30 and Thales (PA:TCFP) which gained 1.95% to close at 61.28.
The worst performers were Solocal Group (PA:LOCAL) which was down 5.54% to 0.290 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 5.19% to settle at 10.32 and Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which was down 3.83% to 4.07 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 468 to 248 and 60 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.72% to 23.23.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.16% or 1.90 to $1166.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.36% or 0.64 to hit $47.74 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.37 to trade at $50.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.25% to 1.1388, while EUR/GBP rose 0.93% to 0.7469.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 94.76.
