Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which rose 1.46% or 1.70 points to trade at 118.00 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 1.44% or 0.62 points to end at 43.55 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.44% or 0.56 points to 39.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 0.66% or 0.49 points to trade at 73.65 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 0.61% or 0.09 points to end at 14.67 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) shed 0.48% or 0.55 points to 114.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 84 to 54 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.42% or 5.65 to $1348.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.49% or 0.67 to hit $45.50 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.57% or 0.74 to trade at $48.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1235, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.8427.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 95.01.
