Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Transportation & Logistics and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.46%, while the MDAX index gained 0.75%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 6.83% or 0.667 points to trade at 10.430 at the close. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) added 6.30% or 0.471 points to end at 7.947 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was up 4.06% or 0.495 points to 12.675 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 4.29% or 4.140 points to trade at 92.360 in late trade. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) declined 0.71% or 0.650 points to end at 90.260 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) shed 0.66% or 0.390 points to 58.270.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which rose 2.84% to 48.324, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:FPEG_p) which was up 2.65% to settle at 40.615 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which gained 2.23% to close at 7.600.
The worst performers were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was down 1.60% to 33.155 in late trade, Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (XETRA:CLSGn) which lost 1.14% to settle at 24.720 and Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which was down 1.02% to 64.290 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which rose 5.25% to 25.775, Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was up 3.62% to settle at 36.025 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (XETRA:SBSG) which gained 2.94% to close at 50.750.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was down 5.46% to 196.400 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which lost 1.57% to settle at 9.420 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which was down 1.03% to 5.286 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 368 to 309 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.94% to 27.74.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 2.11% or 23.50 to $1137.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.05% or 0.47 to hit $44.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.56 to trade at $47.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.61% to 1.1263, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.7405.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.66% at 95.70.
