Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB lost 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which rose 1.24% or 0.0075 points to trade at 0.6120 at the close. Banco Popolare (MILAN:BAPO) fell 1.46% or 0.2100 points to end at 14.1400 and Banca Popolare Milano (MILAN:PMII) was down 1.51% or 0.0145 points to 0.9485 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which added 3.00% or 0.34 points to trade at 11.66 in late trade. ENI (MILAN:ENI) added 0.12% or 0.02 points to end at 17.13 and CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI) gained 0.26% or 0.020 points to 7.730.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 344 to 137 and 4 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 3.18% or 1.65 to $53.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.96% or 1.16 to hit $60.20 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.58% or 6.90 to trade at $1192.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.91% to 1.0663, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7217.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.82% at 98.92.
