Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Textile sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Coadna (TW:4984), which rose 9.94% or 3.25 points to trade at 35.95 at the close. Avermedia Tech (TW:2417) added 9.57% or 1.00 points to end at 11.45 and Evertex (TW:1470) was up 9.37% or 1.55 points to 18.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452), which lost 9.88% or 3.25 points to trade at 29.65 in late trade. Winbond (TW:2344) declined 9.07% or 0.71 points to end at 7.12 and Asmedia (TW:5269) shed 8.44% or 20.50 points to 222.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 504 to 340 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.23% or 0.12 to $52.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.31% or 0.17 to hit $56.98 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.30 to trade at $1167.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.56% to 30.973, while TWD/CNY fell 0.35% to 0.2004.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 96.70.
