Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.49% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.07% or 2.550 points to trade at 85.590 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 2.62% or 3.60 points to end at 141.05 and NN Group NV (AS:NN) was up 2.31% or 0.80 points to 35.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Relx NV (AS:RELN), which lost 1.40% or 0.250 points to trade at 17.595 in late trade. Heineken (AS:HEIN) declined 1.00% or 0.84 points to end at 82.91 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) shed 0.91% or 0.34 points to 37.71.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 59 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.44% to 10.60.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.44% or 0.23 to $52.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.78% or 0.45 to hit $57.47 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.85% or 11.04 to trade at $1290.66 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1769, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.8781.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 93.07.
