Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 1.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP), which rose 4.38% or 0.0039 points to trade at 0.0930 at the close. Semapa (LISBON:SEM) added 4.12% or 0.5275 points to end at 13.3175 and Portucel (LISBON:PTI) was up 3.16% or 0.1380 points to 4.5090 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Portugal Telecom (LISBON:PTC), which lost 1.48% or 0.0085 points to trade at 0.5645 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP) declined 0.57% or 0.0700 points to end at 12.1200 and Banco BPI (LISBON:BBPI) shed 0.51% or 0.0075 points to 1.4525.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 46 to 22 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for June delivery was down 0.10% or 0.07 to $66.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.41% or 0.24 to hit $58.91 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.31% or 15.40 to trade at $1189.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1161, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.7378.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 95.52.
