Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Trade & Services, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI rose 0.74% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were MISC Bhd (KL:MISC), which rose 4.42% or 0.38 points to trade at 8.98 at the close. Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) added 2.83% or 0.12 points to end at 4.36 and Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR) was up 2.54% or 0.52 points to 21.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TLMM), which lost 0.91% or 0.07 points to trade at 7.60 in late trade. IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) declined 0.65% or 0.03 points to end at 4.60 and Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (KL:FGVH) shed 0.47% or 0.01 points to 2.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 43 and 1 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.45% or 0.76 to $51.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.02% or 0.59 to hit $57.52 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.84% or 10.20 to trade at $1208.40 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.41% to 2.6961, while USD/MYR rose 0.28% to 3.6380.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 97.83.
