Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.27%, while the MDAX index lost 0.61%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 4.54% or 0.339 points to trade at 7.812 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 0.57% or 0.080 points to end at 14.005 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 0.42% or 0.450 points to 106.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11), which lost 2.26% or 1.85 points to trade at 80.03 in late trade. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) declined 1.62% or 2.500 points to end at 151.850 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 1.29% or 0.250 points to 19.140.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 1.63% to 10.26, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 1.35% to settle at 57.200 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 0.94% to close at 36.900.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 2.58% to 37.020 in late trade, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which lost 2.28% to settle at 56.63 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was down 1.98% to 54.090 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 3.23% to 57.850, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was up 1.77% to settle at 28.985 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 1.14% to close at 10.235.
The worst performers were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 2.80% to 17.700 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 2.29% to settle at 49.940 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 2.26% to 9.256 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 486 to 265 and 24 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.64% to 14.40.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.60% or 7.45 to $1225.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.01% or 0.53 to hit $53.14 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.51 to trade at $55.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.0556, while EUR/GBP rose 0.57% to 0.8616.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 101.90.
