Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 4.60% or 2.11 points to trade at 48.01 at the close. Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) added 4.50% or 0.28 points to end at 6.50 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 3.66% or 0.030 points to 0.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which lost 5.00% or 0.97 points to trade at 18.43 in late trade. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 4.69% or 0.030 points to end at 0.610 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) shed 0.90% or 0.15 points to 16.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 17 to 17 and 52 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.86% or 0.93 to $49.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 2.09% or 1.06 to hit $49.73 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.57% or 7.25 to trade at $1266.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.40% to 346.750, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 316.500.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 98.59.
