Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Auto, Capital Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.73% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ICICI Bank Ltd . (NS:ICBK), which rose 7.20% or 17.40 points to trade at 259.15 at the close. NTPC Limited (NS:NTPC) added 1.76% or 2.55 points to end at 147.55 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was up 0.78% or 6.55 points to 848.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 5.72% or 30.25 points to trade at 498.25 in late trade. Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) declined 3.28% or 2.45 points to end at 72.25 and Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) shed 3.09% or 703.85 points to 22100.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which rose 6.91% to 258.55, NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.76% to settle at 147.45 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 0.88% to close at 849.40.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 3.22% to 1313.40 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which lost 2.24% to settle at 3404.15 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 2.07% to 1182.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 863 to 616 and 78 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1483 fell and 1259 advanced, while 167 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.16% to 15.6550.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.85 to $1254.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $50.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $51.95 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 66.826, while EUR/INR rose 0.37% to 73.4740.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 97.95.
