Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 6.04% or 0.274 points to trade at 4.809 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 4.55% or 0.81 points to end at 18.50 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 4.22% or 0.60 points to 14.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heineken (AS:HEIN), which added 0.62% or 0.50 points to trade at 81.27 in late trade. Relx NV (AS:RELN) added 0.80% or 0.120 points to end at 15.170 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) gained 0.82% or 0.28 points to 35.01.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 141 to 21 and 16 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 13.25% to 27.96.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.65% or 0.32 to $49.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.68% or 0.34 to hit $50.22 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.45% or 5.75 to trade at $1264.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.46% to 1.1349, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.7660.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 93.54.
