if they are mistaken, i hope it's not sadly. but John, interested to hear where your info is from and on what basis it's saying WHO etc are mistaken in being very concerned?

hmm. i think the covid dip has performed much of the function of any dip that was due over the next year or so. it's shaken out loose market participants and now we're seeing new entrants; what we need for sustainable growth. another dip is possible of course, and it might be on the back of an interest rate rise, but that might be already baked into prices. i'm certainly bullish over the 6-18 month outrun

yes please! (i just read you guys for the larks ... all my money's in ETFs)

some basic math tho. big boys are down, bp, glencore, anglo am, and only small fry are up. i still think this is a shakedown of big investors getting a bit of 'correction' following a week of highs, but we'll see 7100 by close and that will be base thereafter.
FTSE 100 Aug 19, 2021 10:27
this is a shakedown. back to 7100 by close.

ok, so definitely today, if the market is bearish we'll have a red day, though it might be bullish, depending on which way it goes, in which case ..... And when some results one out, something might happen.

rusty's weekly mighty fall prediction.
FTSE 100 Aug 02, 2021 14:57
i like your thinking, but sadly the r$%@rds who voted for it still think it's a good idea and might well vote in the same bunch in 25. ho hum. i think the market will at least reach some sort of equilibrium, if one of irksome lack if growth and investment. my money is 80% elsewhere.

key components like apple (60-148) twitter (20-60) pushing this.but is there anything fundamentally wrong here, since the components are regularly swapped out, and as Buffett proved, a 10 year investment in a passive s&p tracker will always, always, outperform a managed fund.

not historic highs, which are close to 8000, and brexit will keep us int doldrums and out of that a while longer, but i think there are structural adjustments that have happened during covid that have a better than even chance of maintaining slow growth and keeping us out of trouble.
FTSE 100 Jul 25, 2021 20:55
we are not historically high. we have been stifled by brexit, then covid. It could just stay down but I think not. a lot of small to mid cap just about ticking over businesses have been shaken out of the system. I've don much better tracking those than the general market, but only when i went in late, last Sept or later. so i believe there is growth potential from here. Not to where we would be without Brexit, but definitely enough to get back to pre-covid . So very reluctant to go short in any volume now there seems to be some momentum.i do not believe there is a gap. I think we're staying above 6995 now, and will see 7100 by mid week.

all cash is invented. it's just a promise. value is value. how it moves around is important, not the number on it
FTSE 100 Jul 22, 2021 10:23
but the 250 is up more, which should indicate actual up rather than artifice ... but then, smaller cap might be getting better signals today
FTSE 100 Jul 22, 2021 7:00
this one isn't for sure. what seems to make it so attractive for our scalphunter friends is that we have such completely random s*** politicos with zero competence on keeping any sort of stability. it would be funny, except it's not ! this one isn't for sure. what seems to make it so attractive for our scalphunter friends is that we have such completely random s*** politicos with zero competence on keeping any sort of stability. it would be funny, except it's not !

i'm in this with a tracker fund and will need it to deliver for around 2027. you guys think I'm in the right place to achieve about 5-6% per year till then, with maybe the odd blip?
