More Information

Ellen R. Wald, Ph.D. is a historian and scholar of the global energy industry and Western involvement in the Middle East.  She consults for financial institutions and public relations firms about energy and petroleum policy, including oil pricing and innovative and alternative energies.  Her analyses are based on the principle that any energy evaluation requires assessment of the international government, industry, and political interests at hand.

She has written for Forbes.com and Futures Magazine, among other publications.  Her academic writing has included analyses of energy policy under the last two Presidential administrations, the intersection of the energy industry and American government, and American involvement in international energy production.  She was featured in BBC History Magazine as an expert on oil price fluctuation and has been cited by the New York Times.  She regularly speaks about energy policy, the energy industry, and American involvement in the Middle East across the United States and in the United Kingdom.  She was the Bernard L. Majewski Fellow in Economic Geology at the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming and on faculty at the University of Georgia.  She currently teaches Middle East history and policy at Jacksonville University.

Dr. Wald’s current project is a book about Saudi Arabia’s energy industry that explains how common misunderstandings about Saudi Arabia and Aramco hinder American financial and diplomatic decisions.  Join her weekly newsletter for unique insights and innovative ideas about the global energy industry and follow her on twitter @EnergzdEconomy.
