First it was the banks, now its the tech companies all smashing their earnings forecasts. Tesla a trillion dollar market cap and over a $1000 a share for the first time. Elon net worth $220bn, not a bad Monday for him. As oil marches towards $100, where can we get the much needed pull back? I think we see 7300 in FTSE, 36300 in Dow and back up to 16000On Dax before any sortOf sell off. It doesnt make sense but nothing does in the current world.

With the news about minimum payment rises seems to me that interest rate rises will happen shortly. No way can the government be able to be pumping in soo much money without any consequences. I do expect bad news to come soon so I do expect this to drop. IMO

Yes, but then practice with demo accounts to not lose real money, at least at the beginning, anyway Controlled Trading is excellent to start

How can you have US markets and dax so strong and FTSE still laggingOn any leaderboard FSTE should be at least double of the highest lead, its 1000 points left behind.

Ftse is a bunch of quite old fashioned companies Sceptic that aren't well placed to have done well during the covid era and will suffer over the coming years. It has very little tech but instead has miners, banks, utilities etc. Other indices have components that are much better suited to the current and near term environment.

As the economy picks and interest rates rise then cyclicals are the best placed surely? And Ftse has a bunch on those.

OK I think I'm done. Loss taking starts tomorrow. It's been an amazing few weeks so I was always going to have to swallow some losses. This could get very very messy for shorts - I think us markets are just looking for any excuse to pump.

Its been a confusing day because of CAC in negative and Dax zooming up with US and FTSE sympathising with CAC. Madness FTSE action even though FTSE is 20 per cent behind CAC but good for you NICK.

Am going for a gap fill this week at 7152. On the upside, I can't see it going past 280 without a severe nosebleed UNLESS earnings are blown out of the water but.... can that really happen?

Not been able to read/write comments all day - don't know why....It's beginning to feel a little weak to me, this. Especially compared to DAX which is looking far more robust than it has for a while. All indices are overbought IMO and we WILL see a 1-2% retrace at some point soon. The only questions are: when and how high will it have got to before then. I added more at 248 today but that is absolutely my final chunk. If it goes meaningfully above 260 I will look to trim position in quite a big way. Earnings are either going to be my saviour this week or some nails in the old coffin. However, I REALLY think people are starting to take inflation seriously now and I think that will become more central to the narrative than it has been.I also think covid in China will play a role if it starts shutting things down because the supply chain is already causing real issues/inflation.

Im sure if I could predict that I would be a millionaire. Well it looks bullish today but even me expecting a retracement sometime but when I guess. If we break 7190 then lower but cant see that today. Then we seem have a lot of upside left so I look at on a daily basis . But year end still looking good upside but what will the BOE do if they put rates up could cause a slide down for a bit but with oil prices looking so strong the downside at moment is not too much

and equally, if not more important i feel are latest comments from Fed's Powell, reads like they are becoming less and less confident of 'transitory' nature of inflation pressures. while i am sure many of the factors WILL abate, there is zero chance that all will magically disappear soon enough for economy and business and margins and profits to just carry on regardless, IMHO!
