The MBAM segment provides advisory, asset management, markets, and private equity services to corporations and governments; and merchant banking services. The Others segment offers life and general insurance brokerage services. The company also provides funds management, investment and general trading, trusteeship, real estate investment, financial/ investment advisory, and portfolio management services. In addition, it is involved in the venture capital and private equity business. Further, the company offers retail banking products and services, such as credit cards, mortgages, term loans, and overdrafts facilities; treasury and international banking; pension custodianship services; equities brokerage; and agency services. FBN Holdings Plc was founded in 1894 and is based in Lagos, Nigeria.

The reason is obviously the non performing loans in its balance sheet. It is excessively high at above 13%. Regulatory threshold is 5%. Another consideration is the considerable weakened internal capacity of the institution to generate net cash flow. This is dangerous particularly as capital is being eroded year on year due to loan loss provisions. Past performance is truly not important in investing decisions.

First Bank has been one of the strongest bank in nigeria. Reason for its poor share performance is not really understood
