the cost of a share depends on its fundamentals not its price on any particular day.If its a good company its day to day fluctuations are imiterial. There is neither a good or bad price to buy in at,you buy on what you think its worth not a crystal ball price.I payed 27 but have been more than compensated by the divi and its nearly time for the next one a 1000 every quarter suits me and I ignore the price.

Is this nicotine announcement the start of a long decline or will it recover? My thoughts are that BAT will try to become big in the cannabis market but that could be a long shot!?

The nicotine regulation means smokers have to consume more cigarettes to get the same dose? As long as its not banned completely, I think this dip is a buying opportunity

Trump scared the ********out of everyone who held chinease ADR shares last year. Bidens now done it for tobacco, just the idea alone of legislation is scary enough for some....🤦‍♂️

Although the cannabis market is lucrative I can't see it in anyway match the shear scale of the tobacco market.

Thanks Brett. Am I correct to say that looking at the Financials of BAT, that BAT will pay 213p per share on July 8th and another 213p per share on Sep 30th and another 213p per share on Dec 23rd totalling 639p?

I think thats probably an annualised number. But the total dividend is approx 8 percent. So for 10k you’d expect an annual dividend of £800 paid out at £200 per quarter.

Yes 213p is per year split over 4 dividend payments which I think are paid in March, June, Oct & Dec

Rohan Fernando no the 213p reflects the annual dividend. 213p equates to around 8 percent of the shareprice, which is the annual dividend. It is paid quarterly. So 213/4 is you quarterly payment. Its just a little milesding how its presented.

No sense to the stock price movement.. has an earnings multiple of 9.6 and pays an 8 percent dividend... with a product that is recession proof. Are dividend investors blind?

Not surprisingly, as a result of managements' NR regarding future dividend cuts, long term income funds and investors moving to better, more stable income prospects which are plentiful currently.

it's mainly dependent on the current and international affairs and the more each country has intrest on specific share let's say tobaaco then the share price will increase due to increase in demand for that commodity or share
