Nicolas, do you have an explanation for the sudden fall? What has changed since a week ago?
After 8-9 months of going only up it was just a a matter of time and usually goes down quicker because people want to sell not hold and maybe sell later for a much smaller price , it’s a psychological game . Now it can go down to 1200-1250 and then up to 1.7 or after it gets to 1.2 makes a few small swings up and grind down to 850-900 , I don’t know what is going to happen but it’s certain nothing only goes one way,in commodities passions is key and it always goes back to the mean and in soybeans the mean was under 1000 for last 10 years...
Thank you.
Paul,I hope no one took your advice to buy at levels not seen since 2013
$60 ???
Come on let’s go down $50 today
What’s going on ?
Paul, still keeping you long ? It goes down iven faster than it came up
prior to china falling out with trump they held 70mill in stock .this was to prevent food inflation caused by the 2012 la nina drought (soy 17.5 bushel).they held state auctions every month selling old stock and replacing with new. these stopped months ago as they had no beans to sell, they are paying 19.50 a bushel on the dalian exchange
is it possible the Chinese storage is full ahead of new administration?
I’m not spreading currently, short on soybeans and Tesla that I short last week and most of my money are in cash...maybe I’m wrong but I feel comfortable this way at the moment
were we bet 1lot = £300 per $1 rise per bushel. We have 80 lots on
are you about £600 down
More ...that is change,I have shorts from above 1.4 too
Nicholas are you spread betting
Paul I been short from 1.3 and I hope it goes to 2 becouse I short more with each 100 points , people can buy 10 times more but can’t eat 10 times more,it means they will buy 10 times less in the future
Hardic  are you predicting or hoping Nicholas argentina produce 55 mill a year . They export 28 mill tons as soybean meal equal to that of the usa and brazil combined. they also export 8mill of soybeans and account for 20% of the worlds bean/meal exports . There population is less than 45mill ,brazil and usa 600 mill combined. your 35million ton output was from 2018 when dought reduced the crop from 55mill planted to 35 mill. This year they only planted 49mill ,the drought is much worse this year. Tomorrows arg crop report will will show good to ex down to 18% . 27 last week 42 week before. IT WILL NOT DROP ,DO NOT GO SHORT
Paul, I believe you are right. Read the article on this site - "U. S. grain market pierce the roof on China buying".
Just the beginning
Nicolas, do you think this is the beginning of the downfall in price ? The production numbers you mentioned are about correct, but the demand seems to be much higher for now, especially from China.
