Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Transport and Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Staples and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.85%, while the ADX General index added 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 5.86% or 0.180 points to trade at 3.250 at the close. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) added 1.31% or 0.050 points to end at 3.860 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was up 0.36% or 0.002 points to 0.564 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which lost 5.50% or 3.85 points to trade at 66.10 in late trade. Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) declined 1.88% or 0.130 points to end at 6.800 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) shed 1.83% or 0.020 points to 1.070.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which rose 2.93% to 6.67, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which was up 2.74% to settle at 5.25 and Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which gained 1.80% to close at 2.260.
The worst performers were National Corp Tourism Hotels (AD:NCTH) which was down 10.00% to 4.05 in late trade, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which lost 6.67% to settle at 0.420 and Rak Cmt & Cons (AD:RAKC) which was down 5.98% to 1.100 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 25 to 6 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 10 fell and 5 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.65% or 0.28 to $42.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.02% or 0.46 to hit $44.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1328.00 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.06% to 4.0377.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 97.26.
