United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.44%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Insurance, Finance & Investment and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.44%, while the ADX General index lost 0.49%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX), which rose 5.54% or 0.200 points to trade at 3.810 at the close. Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) added 1.46% or 0.100 points to end at 6.930 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) was up 1.03% or 0.090 points to 8.800 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National General Insurance Co PSC (DU:NGIN), which lost 5.91% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.91 in late trade. Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) declined 2.83% or 0.015 points to end at 0.515 and Takaful House (DU:DTKF) shed 2.68% or 0.030 points to 1.090.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which rose 14.92% to 2.850, Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was up 2.05% to settle at 6.48 and Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which gained 1.58% to close at 3.850.

The worst performers were Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 4.30% to 0.890 in late trade, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which lost 4.26% to settle at 0.450 and National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which was down 4.08% to 4.700 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 26 to 6 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 8 advanced, while 6 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.18% or 0.51 to $42.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.80% or 0.36 to hit $44.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.09% or 1.20 to trade at $1328.40 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.07% to 4.0394.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 97.11.
