United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.26%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Services and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.26%, while the ADX General index declined 0.06%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 14.94% or 0.360 points to trade at 2.770 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 4.55% or 0.050 points to end at 1.150 and ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) was up 3.32% or 0.110 points to 3.420 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC), which lost 9.86% or 0.340 points to trade at 3.110 in late trade. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) declined 2.08% or 0.012 points to end at 0.565 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) shed 1.91% or 0.030 points to 1.540.

The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Aviation (AD:ADAV) which rose 9.89% to 3.000, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was up 5.56% to settle at 0.9500 and Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which gained 4.08% to close at 0.510.

The worst performers were National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which was down 8.04% to 4.460 in late trade, Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which lost 5.00% to settle at 1.900 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was down 1.44% to 1.370 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 23 to 11 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 rose and 12 declined, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.15% or 0.07 to $45.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $46.88 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.17% or 2.20 to trade at $1331.50 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.17% to 4.0608.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 96.78.
