United Arab Emirates shares lower at close of trade; DFM General down 0.07%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Telecoms and Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.07%, while the ADX General index declined 0.49%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA), which rose 3.75% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.660 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 3.57% or 0.040 points to end at 1.160 and Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) was up 2.92% or 0.040 points to 1.410 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which lost 2.56% or 0.040 points to trade at 1.520 in late trade. National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC) declined 1.93% or 0.060 points to end at 3.050 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) shed 1.57% or 0.009 points to 0.564.

The top performers on the ADX General were Fujairah Building Industries Co PSC (AD:FBI) which rose 12.32% to 1.55, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 5.51% to settle at 2.680 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which gained 2.22% to close at 0.9200.

The worst performers were Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which was down 3.85% to 0.500 in late trade, Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which lost 2.60% to settle at 0.7500 and Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was down 1.99% to 9.85 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 13 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 10 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.24% or 0.11 to $45.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.40% or 0.19 to hit $46.98 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1319.65 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED rose 0.02% to 4.0467.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 97.07.
