Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which rose 3.30% or 19.500 points to trade at 610.500 at the close. Next PLC (LON:NXT) added 2.73% or 133.00 points to end at 5005.00 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) was up 2.17% or 3.90 points to 183.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which lost 3.39% or 300.00 points to trade at 8550.00 in late trade. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 2.60% or 11.7500 points to end at 440.3500 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (LON:RDSa) shed 2.56% or 53.50 points to 2038.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1298 to 766 and 508 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 2.00 to $1329.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.56% or 1.13 to hit $43.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.26% or 1.04 to trade at $45.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.18% to 1.3133, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8360.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 97.40.
