Mexico shares lower at close of trade; IPC down 0.16%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Staples and Consumer Goods & Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the IPC lost 0.16%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1), which rose 1.66% or 1.260 points to trade at 77.350 at the close. Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) added 2.11% or 1.480 points to end at 71.560 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB) was up 1.86% or 1.990 points to 109.180 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which lost 14.86% or 0.590 points to trade at 3.380 in late trade. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) declined 1.42% or 3.830 points to end at 265.820 and Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) shed 1.82% or 0.730 points to 39.370.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 97 to 72 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.72% or 22.25 to $1269.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.26% or 0.13 to hit $49.83 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.10 to trade at $50.55 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.04% to 18.6517, while EUR/MXN fell 0.55% to 20.9936.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 94.13.
