Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Media and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 2.24%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.63%, and the TecDAX index added 1.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 6.47% or 1.100 points to trade at 18.095 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 5.78% or 0.312 points to end at 5.711 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 4.90% or 1.775 points to 37.980 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which added 0.02% or 0.020 points to trade at 84.490 in late trade. Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) added 0.28% or 0.350 points to end at 126.900 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG) gained 0.46% or 0.500 points to 109.150.
The top performers on the MDAX were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which rose 5.34% to 96.910, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 4.47% to settle at 26.985 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which gained 3.98% to close at 27.675.
The worst performers were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 0.49% to 38.950 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 0.47% to settle at 107.000 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 0.40% to 48.834 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which rose 4.02% to 24.735, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 3.73% to settle at 25.315 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which gained 3.06% to close at 6.531.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 2.31% to 51.540 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 0.38% to settle at 5.216 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 0.30% to 63.350 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 656 to 180 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.84% to 22.33.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.53% or 7.20 to $1354.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.29% or 0.13 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.20 to trade at $46.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.1038, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.8529.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 96.46.
