Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Construction and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.65%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.25%, and the TecDAX index added 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 3.13% or 2.790 points to trade at 91.970 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) added 2.70% or 1.860 points to end at 70.690 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 2.64% or 1.970 points to 76.460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which added 0.31% or 0.500 points to trade at 162.150 in late trade. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) added 0.61% or 0.510 points to end at 83.780 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) gained 0.66% or 0.440 points to 66.840.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which rose 4.42% to 30.225, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was up 4.23% to settle at 22.065 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which gained 3.00% to close at 48.765.
The worst performers were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 0.57% to 48.550 in late trade, Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (DE:RHKG) which lost 0.49% to settle at 27.295 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 0.40% to 29.795 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 4.74% to 9.060, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was up 2.54% to settle at 7.321 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 2.29% to close at 28.155.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 1.11% to 9.000 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 0.80% to settle at 21.635 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 0.53% to 25.22 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 642 to 235 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.16% to 20.52.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.23% or 2.85 to $1244.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.72% or 0.36 to hit $50.05 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.13% or 0.57 to trade at $51.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1351, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.7795.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 93.90.
